We’ll start by pointing a trend that is not new (kind of contradicting what we have just stated, we know) but timeless, Mid-century modern design. From rich golden hues to lavishing suede upholstery, this design current will undoubtedly surpass time. DelightFULL, Essential Home, Covet Lounge are proving to be the best in this style.
So this year’s ICFF, DelightFULL presents the wall (now available in several layers) and table lamps from the Matheny family; the pendant lamp from the Turner family; and the new torchiere version of the already iconic Sinatra floor lamp. Essential Home presents, among other pieces, the dining chair Collins – boasting a deep hue of burgundy.
Now changing to a different style we introduce you to the concept lighting brand molo, who presents cloud mast, “a new, large, luminous canopy of cloud-like light forms floating overhead, yet supported by the floor. Designed by Stephanie Forsythe + Todd MacAllen, cloud mast is a work of sculpture, a large mobile balancing elements of earth and sky to shape intimate space within a larger room and provide a delightful source of light.”
And at last but not least, the biggest surprise of all (for the majority) the Terry Crews Collection, that’s right the former NFL player, author and current actor, Terry Crews has teamed up with Bernhardt Design to create a furniture collection!
Terry mentions, “During my first NFL off-season, my passion for art reawakened. I sketched for enjoyment and loved doing logos for local rap groups and businesses…I worked at a small design firm doing sketches, mock-ups and painting animation backdrops. At the team hotels, I would set up my art table and continue to paint. My reputation grew around the NFL and I had no shortage of players contracting me to do portraits of their wives, kids, and themselves.”
So, it’s no surprise to see that he’s teamed up with Bernhardt Design to continue with his creative talents (apart from acting and writing) and designed a furniture collection, with one of the pieces being the Lilypad Lounge Chair an unusual seat and table combination, which has an expected twist—literally. The seat rotates 360 degrees.
About the four-piece line debuted this week at ICFF (International Contemporary Furniture Fair) all we can say is that it’s much more elegant than we had anticipated. The Ibis sofa, Aire Benches, and Float coffee and end tables are a minimalist’s dream.
